Manipur: Over 200 light vehicles stranded along NH- 202

Around 200 light vehicles were stranded along NH-202 stretch of Ukhrul-Jesami Road after landslide debris eroded the road in between Choithar Junction to Langdang in Ukhrul district, Manipur on Monday.

The incessant rainfall had caused soil erosion and weakened the NH-202 road, as per sources. The most severely affected was along Choithar to Ukhrul Junction, 4 km distant between Langdang.

Despite efforts by the NHIDCL to repair the road, the situation is far from improving owing to the incessant rain.

The villagers alleged that the situation could have been avoided had the NHIDCL repaired the road on time.

The villagers are also facing untold miseries in trying to cross the dilapidated stretch. Light vehicles including Alto, Bolero Pick Up and DI Tata were stranded along the highway.
