In a tragic incident, a mother and her son were killed in a landslide at Dimthanlong village, Tamenglong district headquarters in Manipur on Monday night. Sources said two others, including the father, were also injured.

The sources added that the father, Ringsinlung Kahmei, 30, who is a Police constable at Tamenglong Police Station, was critically injured and has been airlifted to Imphal.

The decased have been identified as Duanjangliu Kahmei, 28 and Jaojeangai Kahmei, 2. The other injured person has been identifed as Chungaingam Kahmei, 18, who is the brother of Ringsinlung Kahmei,

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh took to X to extend his condolences.  

"Deeply saddened to learn about the tragic loss of a mother and her child due to the landslide that occurred last night in Dimthanlong village, Tamenglong Ward No. 3. My heart goes out to the bereaved family. Our thoughts are with Mr. Ringsinlung Kahmei, who has been critically injured in this incident. We are taking immediate steps to ensure he receives the necessary medical attention and advanced care," CM Biren posted.

Meanwhile, the Old Cachar Road in has also been cut off between Rengpang and Taodaijang due to a landslide on Monday night.
