MLA Kh Joykisan said he will provide necessary assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) staying in three relief camps in the Thangmeiband assembly constituency in addition to Manipur government’s initiatives, with a focus on education and health.
The MLA was speaking to the media on Monday at the relief camp set up at Tombisana High School, Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba Maning, Imphal.
Joykisan stated that for over 15 months, people from almost all sections have been raising their voices in support of the IDPs, collectively providing necessary assistance. The state government is also doing its best to provide essential support to the IDPs, including financial assistance, he said.
He mentioned that in the Thangmeiband assembly constituency, three relief camps have been opened—one at Thangmeiband THAU ground, and two at Tombisana High School and Thangmeiband Thingei Leikai, Khomdram Selungba Leikai, Imphal West.
With the help of volunteers from the assembly constituency, he has been providing additional assistance to the IDPs, alongside the government's support. He noted that the IDPs, especially students, are facing significant challenges related to school uniforms, textbooks, and other stationery items. Moreover, many IDPs are also dealing with health issues.
He announced that, in addition to the government's assistance provided to the IDPs and displaced students, he will offer any further assistance needed, with a priority on education and health.
He also appealed to all other MLAs and CSOs to do their best until normalcy and peace are fully restored.
