Manipur Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam on Wednesday justified the exclusion of Chief Minister N Biren Singh in the high-level security meeting convened by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday.
He said, the meeting was intended only for the executives and not for politicians. So, Chief Minister Biren Singh was not invited.
Govindas made this statement at a press conference held at State BJP office located at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal.
He said that Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, Chief Secretary Vineet Joshi, and DG of Manipur Police Rajiv Singh represented the state government.

Kuldiep Singh is the Security Advisor of the Manipur government as well as the Chairman of the Unified Command.
Addressing concerns of not inviting Chief Minister N. Biren Singh as an insult to the people of Manipur, Govindas stated that those who understand the history of the ongoing crisis in Manipur would understand the decision.
He further said that the state government has strong faith in the Modi 3.0 government to bring peace and tranquillity back to Manipur. To control the ongoing crisis, 55 sensitive zones have been identified, and security forces have been deployed at these sites. Adequate security will be deployed to those sensitive zones where people have mistrusted each other, said the Works Minister.
In Modi 3.0 government’s 100-day action plan, Manipur is at serial number 5, and the state government hopes to see a change soon, he added.
Govindas said those politicians who are trying to gain political mileage by using the ongoing crisis as a tool should stop immediately. He mentioned that some people want the ongoing violence to continue.
Minister Govindas said, the government will talk with owners of oil tankers to bring in oil tankers and LPG bullets along NH-37 (Imphal-Silchar via Jiribam) road.
