Manipur: Man killed in road mishap

The body is still at JNIMS morgue and autopsy is likely to be conducted on Wednesday, police said.

An unidentified man was killed in a road mishap at Sangakpham Bazaar in front of ‘Imoinu Chak Hotel’, and the body has been kept at JNIMS morgue for identification.

A statement issued by officer-in-charge, Heingang police station mentioned that they received information at around 6.15 of pm of Sunday that one unknown male pedestrian was knocked down by Tata Oil tanker bearing registration number MN01AA 0557 at the said site while proceeding towards Imphal from Koirengei side. The pedestrian died at the spot.

In connection to the incident, a case has been registered at Heingang police station for investigation.

As per the description mentioned, he wore one full shirt stripped with white, red, grey and black colour with white vest; he wore a jeans long pant (dark grey) along with one belt red in colour; one cap blue in colour; one leather sleeper purple in colour; one necklace (urik); he has wheatish complexion; a perforated hole was found in ears and the body has a height about 5 feet 2 inch -5 feet 5 inch.

The body has been deposited at JNIMS morgue for further necessary procedure.

The body was later identified to be of one Hidangmayum Shyamsundar Sharma, son of late H Bishambor Sharma of Lairikyengbam Awang Leikai, Imphal East.

The body is still at JNIMS morgue and autopsy is likely to be conducted on Wednesday, police said.
