The JAC was formed following a public meeting convened by Tulihal Idigah Youth Development Organisation (TIYDO) after a man, who was found dead near Tulihal Konjil Leikai in Imphal East at Thoubal River on Monday, was identified as Meraimayum Imtiyas Khan, 20, son of MM Najir Khan, of Yairipok Tulihal near Water Supply under Andro Police Station in Imphal East. He was identified through a photo found with him.

The meeting resolved to impose a general strike and various agitations if the authority concerned failed to identify and apprehend the involved culprits within 48 hours.

Speaking to the media, Co-Convenor of the JAC, Meraimayum Mohd Rafi, condemned the killing of Imtiyas, noting that the body had no identifiable marks. Imtiyas was identified only through a photo found on him.

He further stated that Imtiyas went to work after attending a marriage ceremony on August 20 and had been missing since then.
