A combined team of Commando Imphal West, a column of 4 Assam Rifles, E- Coy of 216 CRPF in presence of EM (SDC, Imphal East) arrested one “armed gang member” and seized some incriminating items around 7.40 pm on Wednesday.
According to SP Imphal West, the arrested person is one Mutum Rajesh Singh, 25, son of M Shyam Singh of Kiyamgei Santipur, Imphal East. He was arrested from Chingmeirong in front of LMS Law College, when he came from Sangakpham side in a black colour Mahindra Thar Jeep without registration number.
The seized items are one .32 pistol marked ‘Made in Italy’ with one magazine loaded with 5 live rounds, one bulletproof vest, one magazine pouch, one bulletproof helmet, one Mahindra Thar jeep, one mobile phone and one wallet containing one Aadhaar card and Rs 370.
The arrested person and the recovered articles were handed over to Imphal Police station for necessary action.
