Due to the apathy of the government and its agencies, the road from Teddim Road, Lanva to STC-BSF, Gangpimual was black-topped with the contribution from locals and non-government agencies after the road remained neglected for the past 15 years.

The road is one of the busiest and most important roads of the district as it leads to STC-BSF, the only Subsidiary Training Centre for the Borders Security Force in North East India while it is also the approach road to the biggest college of Churachandpur district, The Rayburn Autonomous College and a private hospital, The People Health Foundation, among others.

Source said that repeated appeal to the NEC, STC- BSF and the state government did not yield any result and hence, the locals took the step of rebuilding the road  with contribution from individuals including the MLAs of Saikot AC and Churachandpur AC and head of those establishments  that  depends on the so called  STC-BSF road.

The locals had set the budget at Rs 28 lakh to made the road out of which they have got Rs 20  lakh so far with Rs 1 lakh donated by the chief of Lanva and villagers, Rs 2 lakh from Sangboi Guite and Family, the proprietor of Tunnu Engineering Consultancy, Rs 2 lakh from Didim and family, proprietors of People Health Foundation, Rs 5 lakh from Rev. Dr  Khenpi Tombing, Principal of Rayburn College and Rs 5 lakh each from the MLA of Saikot, Paolienlal Haokip, and Churachandpur AC MLA LM Khaute.

The road will be about 18 feet wide and 1 km long.

The levelling of the road began on June 1, 2024 and on the June 12, 2024 partial black topping of the road was done but, in want of quality, WBC was applied on Thursday, as per the wish of the contributors to meet the standard quality of road construction.

Sources said that due to the apathy of the government with no fund available and irregular release of MLA’s Local Area Development Fund, many instances of road construction through local contribution were witnessed here in Churachandpur district in the recent past. For instance, locals contributed to construct a road between Vengnuam South and Zion Veng of New Lamka and another road at Church Road of New Lamka.
