Manipur: Loaded trucks burned at Tronglaobi

The trucks were loaded with construction materials and were heading towards Churachandpur at Tronglaobi, Bishnupur.

An irate mob on Saturday detained four trucks belonging to Bharatiya Infra Project Limited (BRTF) loaded with construction materials heading towards Churachandpur at Tronglaobi, Bishnupur in Manipur and set two of the trucks on fire.

The incident occurred at around 12.10 pm as locals of the area detained the four trucks bearing registration numbers AS25FC-1704; MN01AA-3701; MN04A – 9861; AS25FC-1838 at Tronglaobi near the shrine of Ebudhou Nongpok Ningthou Apanba under the jurisdiction of Moirang police station.

On questioning, the drivers revealed that the construction materials were loaded from Sekmai in Imphal West and were to be delivered at Saikot in Churachandpur district.

The irate mob arson two of the trucks following which a team of Moirang police rushed to the spot immediately and tried to control the mob.

Reinforcement teams of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and central force in a Casspir also rushed to the spot.
Tension escalated and to control the mob the combined security force fired several rounds of tear gas shell and mock bombs.

Later, the irate mob was put under control and after unloading the construction materials at the spot the two untouched trucks were made to return to Imphal.
