Manipur: Landslide alert issued for Bishnpur district

In view of Bishnupur district experiencing a spell of medium to heavy rainfall for the last two to three days, Thanga Khunjem Road have developed large cracks at along a stretch of length 20 metres and the road may collapse anytime and landslide may occur, thereby putting the houses on the eastern side of the above road under high risk, Bishnupur DC informed.

Deputy commissioner, Bishnupur district Lourembam Bikram on Friday issued a landslide advisory, instructing residents nearby Thanga Khunjem Road in Bishnupur district to evacuate to a safer place at the earliest.

A notice signed by deputy commissioner further informed all the general public that traveling along the above mentioned road is strictly prohibited.

A report issued by the Public Works department Bishnupur division stated that their officials have rushed to the spot and necessary precautionary measures are being taken up so as not to worsen the situation.
