Jwalamukhi Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of headquarter 22 Assam Rifles and IGAR (East) apprehended an active cadre of Kuki Liberation Army (KLA), an underground outfit, along with arms and ammunition at around 10.55 am on Thursday.
Acting on information about movement of KLA cadres with weapons, an operation was launched from COB Kangpokpi. The team established a temporary check post and also searched the designated area.
During the search operation at a residence owned by one Hensei alias Hesei Khongsai, one person, identified as Lhunkhhohao alias Haoneo Khongsai, 25, son of Lammang Khongsai of Lhungjang village, Saikul Sub-division, Kangpokpi district was found with arms and ammunition. On questioning he disclosed that he is an active cadre of KLA.
The team apprehended both the persons, including owner of the house and KLA cadre and handed them over to Kangpokpi police station for further investigation.
A case has been registered at Kangpokpi police station and Lhunkhhohao arrested. However, the owner of the house has been released.
