Manipur: Jiribam SP directed to submit report of all FIRs

On July 9, the MHRC had directed DGP Manipur, security advisor, commissioner (Home), chief secretary, DC Jiribam and SP Jiribam to submit a preliminary status report of Jiribam.

The Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has directed the SP of Jiribam district to submit a status report of all FIR cases filed by victims who had to leave their houses and stay in relief camps in connection with the ongoing violence. The commission also asked for a report of the family of deceased Saratkumar.

On July 9, the MHRC had directed DGP Manipur, security advisor, commissioner (Home), chief secretary, DC Jiribam and SP Jiribam to submit a preliminary status report of Jiribam.

On Thursday, the HR of Police Head Quarter for inspector general of police sent a letter to the under secretary stating that SP Jiribam requested for more time for the required report.

The commission stated that “it is not clear to us why DGP and Security Advisor did not submit their preliminary report, as to whether they received notice or not. We did not ask for a full and final status report”.

The MHRC also directed that the preliminary report be submitted on or before July 29.
