The Jiri Apunba Lup (JAL), Jiribam, Manipur on Thursday raised a fervent appeal to the District Administration and District Police Administration of Jiribam to take immediate actions to crackdown on Kuki terror groups in the district, stating that the locals can no longer stay calm in the face of consistent atrocities.

Lately, massive attacks have been carried out consecutively with heavy gunfire and powerful bombs targeting some Meitei villages namely Ningthem Khunou, Mongbung, and villages in the Borobekra sub-division, Jiribam, stated a release.

These attacks have resulted in the killing of an innocent villager and a village volunteer, looting of money with gold and even the burning of government office buildings and civilian houses, it stated.

On Wednesday around 7 pm, heavy gunfire and bombing attacks were launched on Mongbung Meitei village by a large number of Kuki-Narco terrorists, it stated. This incident occurred in the presence of both central and state forces, it added.

This is not an isolated event but a series of repeated attacks, causing severe hurt and anguish to all the innocent villagers, it mentioned.

It questioned why security forces are deployed in such areas if such incidents continue to happen.

“It clearly indicates an unwillingness to take decisive action against these militants. There is undeniable proof that these Narco terrorists have initiated attacks and caused destruction, such as the killing of an innocent villager, Yurembam Kullabi Singh (Kulendra), of Ninthem Khunou, who was murdered in his own bed while sleeping,” it stated.

In another incident, a veterinary building and the house of Hidam Nandakumar Singh of Jatrapur, Borobekra sub-division, located approximately 150 meters away from a police outpost were burned down by suspected Kuki militants at around 12.30 am on Thursday, it stated.

It questioned what subsequent actions have been taken against the culprits and whether any accused persons have been apprehended since all the security forces are aware of these events, it added.
