Manipur has become a model state in terms of decency and hygiene, Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav said in Bishnupur on Sunday. He called upon all to keep the surrounding clean and hygienic to ensure good health.

"Apart from keeping one’s house clean and hygienic, it is the duty and responsibility of each and every citizen to keep their surroundings clean and hygienic, which is the key to good health," Yadav said while addressing the gathering after a public broadcasting programme of the 84th episode of Prime Minister Modi’s “Mann Ki Baat” which was the last episode of this year.

The programme was held at the community hall of Kha Potshangbam, Bishnupur district on Sunday.

Witnessing the discipline, morality and hygienic environment maintained by the people of Manipur, Bhupendra who is also the national general secretary of BJP said, “Manipur has become a model state in terms of decency and hygiene.

Yadav applauded the people of Manipur for using bamboo leaves instead of plastic plates and bowls which are harmful to the environment in having their traditional meals.

With the aim to save the environment from further degradation, the Indian Government will permanently ban all single-use plastics from 2022, the minister informed.

BJP Manipur in-charge Sambit Patra in his speech lamented the then Congress government for considering Manipur as their ATM machine, which is totally contradictory with the present looks towards Manipur by the BJP government.

In the Congress regime, it was almost next to impossible to meet the central leaders by the ministers and MLAs of Manipur, he claimed, adding during the BJP regime, ministers and MLAs are not required to visit Delhi.

Now all the central leaders visit Manipur very frequently and have been taking up various developmental projects automatically without getting any request from the state, he added.

Assuring that BJP government will come back in both the state and the Centre and appealed the public to support the BJP in the upcoming election, he said, “A double engine is better than a single engine”.

Following the programme, Bhupender Yadav and Sambit Patra launched 'Eigi Emung BJP gi Emung' campaign at the Bishnupur Assembly constituency from the house of BJP intending candidate Govindas Konthoujam.
