As part of the security measures taken in Manipur in view of the prevailing law and order situation, security forces conducted search operations to detect any kind of illegal and snatched weapon, incriminating articles concealed and to sanitise the fringe areas properly.
A combined team comprising of District Police Bishnupur led by Dy SP-CDO-2/BPR, D Robinson; i/c OC/CDO-BPR, SI Ph Birkumar Singh, including Hav Md Rafik assisted by ASI H Robash Singh, Hav No 0920001230, Ch Bobo Singh of CDO/BPR, a team of 2nd IRB led by Hav No 1207759,Th Basantakumar Singh, teams of Nambol Police station led by OC/NBL-PS, Inspector A Nabakanta Sharma and SI Gonmei Jangmei, a team of 33-AR led by Major Devarshi Singh and a team of B-8 CRPF conducted a joint cordon and search operations on Monday in the presence of Executive Magistrate, SDC, Oinam, Akoijam Punshiba Meitei.
The team, under the overall supervision of SP Bishnupur, Ksh Ravikumar Singh and Additional SP (Operations) Bishnupur, Amarjit Lamabam, carried out the operations at the adjoining fringe area between Aigejang village and Uyok along Leimaram Makha Maning around 6 am.
During which, the combined team uncovered two plastic sacks, found concealed on the eastern roadside of Uyok Nala. Upon opening the bags, they found a huge cache of weapons, ammunition, explosives and war-like incriminating articles.
The recovered items include, one SLR rifle bearing registration No S-3829; one Sniper rifle b/regd. No UMIS2845(2008); one Bolt Action rifle b/regd. No. IN2118(2009); one Bolt Action rifle without regd. No.; one 9mm pistol b/regd No. MS No. 30120 with one empty magazine; five HE No. 36 Hand grenades; six 12 live round ammunition; three wood piercing Tear Smoke Shell; four Anti-Riot rubber bullets; two normal tear smoke shells; one Tear Smoke Shell Chilli; two Tear Smoke shell soft nose, SR; three Tear Smoke shell soft nose, LR; two Stun Grenades; two Tear Smoke Grenades; eight 9 mm live rounds; four 303 live rounds; one WT set model No. CI5OE b/No. 8YE068919; three bullet proof jackets and two plastic sacks.
The said items, suspected to be hidden by miscreants, were seized at 7.10 am in presence of the Executive Magistrate by observing formalities and later handed over to Nambol Police Station for further necessary actions.
