Manipur HSE Results 2022: Girls outshine boys in class XII exams

By securing all the three top spots in arts and commerce streams, girls have outshone boys this year’s class 12 examinations conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM). The overall pass percentage is recorded 90.09 per cent.

In the Arts stream, the pass percentage stood at 91.18 per cent, 89.67 per cent in the Science stream and 89.03 per cent in Commerce stream. WATCH Video

In the Arts stream, all the top three ranks were bagged by female candidates of Enlighten Knowledge Higher Secondary School, Sangakpam. The first rank was secured by Golmei Gaihemmei, daughter of Gangmei Akashini Kabuini and G Katazinpou with a score of 459 marks out of a total 500; Raniya Soibam, daughter of Waikhom Pratima Devi and Soibam Biramani Singh came in second with a score of 457 while Naorem Jessica Devi, daughter of Naorem Aruni Devi and Naorem Hemanta Singh, with a total score of 456, came in third.

For the commerce too, all the top three ranks were bagged by female candidates; Abujam Anjali Devi, daughter of Abujam Sarda Devi and Abujam Romen, of SDJM Higher Secondary School, Paona Bazaar stood first with a grand total of 424 out of 500; Niangbiaklun, daughter of Khualching and Chingkhanlal, of VK Tawna College, Lamka, Churachandpur stood second with total marks of 399 and Tongbram Luxmi Devi, daughter of Tongbram Sobita Devi and Tongbram Dhaneshwara Singh, of SDJM Higher Secondary bagged third rank getting 397 total marks.

For the Science stream, the first position was bagged by Rahul Naorem, son of Athokpam Shantibala Devi and Naorem Jibol Singh, of Extra Edge School, Ghari scoring 478 marks out of 500; Kshetrimayum Rajshree, daughter of Tourangbam Shantibala and Kshetrimayum Brojen Singh, of Millennium Institute of Sciences, Sagolband Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi stood second by scoring 474 total marks while Wairokpam Anupriya Devi, daughter of W Anita Devi and W Chandrakumar Singh, of Herbert School, Changangei came third with 472 total marks.

The total number of students who appeared in the examination was 28,166, comprising 13,881 female candidates and 14,285 male candidates; a total of 25,374 students cleared the exam. Meanwhile, the total number of female candidates that passed the examination is 12,728 while the tally for male candidates is 12,646.

From government institutes, 3,652 female candidates and 3,550 male candidates appeared in the exam wherein 3,341 female candidates cleared the exam and 3,085 male candidates cleared the exam too. As for private institutes, 9,165 female candidates appeared for examination while 9,604 male candidates appeared too; 8,413 female candidates cleared the exam while 8,544 male candidates cleared the exam.

Addressing the official declaration of the result at the office of COHSEM, Babupara on Monday, Education Minister Thounaojam Basantakumar Singh congratulated all the students who had appeared for the exam and wished them for their bright future. He also appreciated all the staff of the COHSEM for declaring the examination much before the targeted date.

Basanta said that besides just getting good results, it was also necessary to have good moral values. Considering this essence, the state government is going to take up various steps on developing moral values, discipline etc. The government has decided to implement the “No School Bad Day on every Saturday” very strictly within a few months, the Minister said.

Besides this, the government is planning to take up the adoption policy of government schools, under which retired government officials or any personalities can adopt the school just to extend their moral support, he added.

Chairman, COHSEM, L Mahendra Singh also congratulated all the students that appeared in the examinations and thanked all the staff for their support and co-operation to declare the exam on time.
The program was also attended by Commissioner, Education, Gyan Prakesh and Director, Education (S), L Nandakumar Singh as guests of honour.

It may be mentioned that the Higher Secondary Examination was not conducted in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic and the students were given promotion, the pass percentage of which was 86.
Class XII examination, 2022 was conducted between April 7 to May 11.
