According to an order issued by secretary of the Bar, an emergency meeting of the Bar was held on June 14 for discussion on the alleged misconduct by two senior advocates, namely Ahanthem Romenkumar Singh and Salam Rupachandra Singh, which is unbecoming of senior advocates during the proceedings of the HC before the justice Aribam Ganeshwar Sharma.

It is stated that after deliberation on the alleged unruly conduct by two senior advocates, which is bereft of any court’s decorum and sanctity of the Court which sets a bad precedent and adverse example to fellow advocates and junior advocates, the Bar has unanimously resolved that appropriate actions against shall be initiated against the two senior advocates.

It should be mentioned that during the course of proceedings before justice A Ganeshwar, two senior advocates, appearing for the parties, started exchanging arguments among themselves instead of addressing the court. Therefore, the justice made an appeal to the members of the Bar to address through the court only.

The Bar association stated that two senior advocates are under suspension until further order and the matter shall be referred to the Bar Council of Manipur for further necessary action.
