Manipur: Governor La Ganesan visits Tengnoupal district, border town Moreh

The governor assured that all the grievances put up will be discussed thoroughly at his office.

Manipur Governor La Ganesan visited Tengnoupal district and international border town Moreh on Monday and a reception programme was organised by district administration Tengnoupal at Tengnoupal Community Hall.

The reception programme was attended by leaders of different CVOs, students’ leaders and chiefs of different villages. The governor was presented with traditional shawls from various chiefs and heads of villages. Different cultural dances were also showcased as a part of the programme.

During the meeting, different village chiefs submitted memorandums to the governor highlighting frequent transfer of DC from the district which caused hindrance in the development of the district. They also highlighted the lack of infrastructures such as district secretariat office, district hospital and proper drinking water facilities.

Later, the governor visited the Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh. Soon after reaching Moreh town, La Ganesan visited Sri Angla Parmeshwori and Muneshwori temple. After performing prayers and a blessing ceremony, a public meeting with all communities of the town was held at the conference hall of Tamil Sangam Moreh.

HTC president Jangmang Haokip on behalf of all communities of Moreh submitted a memorandum to the governor, mentioning various grievances of the town.

The memorandum requested for implementation of Jaal Jeevan Mission, improvement of inter-village road (IVR) within Moreh town and proper functioning of tele-communication in the town. It also highlighted the need for security check posts along the ASEAN highway. Points regarding the Ayushman Bharat - PMJAY were also mentioned and a proposal was made in strengthening the Fire Brigade department in Moreh town.

Ganesan, in his response to the CVO leaders, said that all the grievances put up will be discussed thoroughly at his office. He also said that he felt delighted to interact with the people from various communities in the Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh.

He continued that smuggling is the main issue of the state at present and people must cooperate with the police and army to root out the smuggling activities. He also spoke on the cleanliness programme to be initiated by the people and the government.

The governor further mentioned about the achievement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led-government in fighting COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
