Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey called on President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on Sunday and apprised her of the situation in the state.
During the meeting, the Governor also congratulated the President for smooth and successful conduct of the Swearing-in Ceremony of the new government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre, stated a release from the Raj Bhavan.
She apprised the President of the damages caused by the recent flood in the state and the relief and rescue works taken up by the state and central agencies, it said. She also highlighted the hardships faced by the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in various relief camps and requested the President to initiate necessary immediate actions for resettlement of the IDPs to their respective places and to ensure financial assistance to them, it asserted.
Governor Uikey also invited the President to attend the Convocation Ceremony of Manipur University.
Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu gave assurance to extend all possible assistance to the state, the Raj Bhavan stated.
The Governor also met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at Rashtrapati Bhawan and requested her to provide financial assistance to Manipur, it mentioned.
Anusuiya Uikey later called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and congratulated him for his new term in office, it stated. She briefed the Home Minister about the recent flood that wreaked havoc in the state due to Cyclone Remal and held discussions on the prevailing situation in the state, the release noted.
