ATUM president, S Munthuireng Aimol, in a release expressed discontentment over the incident and said that it is highly unethical and termed the allegations made against the village chief as baseless.

ATUM stated it is surprised how the abduction took place inside a government office and questioned whether Kangpokpi district is under Kuki Militants and whereabouts of the state police and central forces during the incident.

It also appealed to the state government to deploy additional more state forces at Government offices in order to avoid such untoward incidents in future. It further urged those concerned to refrain from targeting any Aimol Naga civilians and villages of Aimol at peripheral areas.

It added that the Aimol tribe have been maintaining neutrality since the May 3 conflict and appealed not to drag the smaller Naga Tribe into the conflict. It warned those concerned to bear full responsibility should such unethical acts repeat in future.
