Manipur government to implement special scheme for gifted children

At least 100 gifted children will be selected from across Manipur, Education Minister Th Basantakumar said.

Manipur Education Minister Th Basantakumar on Monday said the state government had launched a special scheme for gifted children. It will be the first in the country to implement a central scheme to nurture gifted children, he said. 

The minister was speaking at the National Start-up Day organised by the Planning department, government of Manipur at Hotel Imphal on Monday. 

At least 100 gifted children will be selected from across the state and they will be nurtured and honed to become big achievers, he added.

Basanta Kumar added that the Centre has already sanctioned Rs 7 crore for implementation of the scheme. It is a pilot project by the Centre and will be implemented within two months, he added.

The minister also appreciated the increasing number of entrepreneurs of Manipur as there are 5,796 entrepreneurs and it means that the state is going in the right path. 

Attending the programme, Health Minister Sapam Ranjan said that Manipur is changing towards the right direction as the people have inherent talent that can boost up the economy sector of Manipur.

One should have clear concepts, plans, goals and targets along with marketing strategy to start a business, he added. 

Certificates and financial assistance under Manipur Start-up Scheme were also distributed to beneficiaries during the National Start-up Day celebration.
