Manipur government to compensate crisis-affected farmers

Farmer must apply through their mobile number registered/linked with their Aadhaar number

In response to the plights and grievances of the farmers affected by the prevailing conflict, the state government has initiated measures to compensate the crisis-affected farmers.

Directorate of Agriculture, Government of Manipur, has informed all the farmers of Manipur who were unable to cultivate Kharif paddy for the year 2024 due to the ongoing crisis in the state that they may apply for financial assistance by submitting their applications online by visiting the website ‘https://farmercompensation.in.

The notice issued by Director of Agriculture, N Gojendro on Friday, stated that to ensure ease of application, the state has developed an application through which the farmers can apply online using a smartphone or a computer.

It notified that the farmer must apply through their mobile number registered/linked with their Aadhaar number. It further said that after submitting their required details in the system, the farmer must also upload either photos of their affected areas (if available/accessible) or google map photo (if the area is inaccessible).

It maintained that they will be able to know the status of their application on the website at any point of time after submission of the application. If further informed that the last date for submission of applications is October 15 and said that applications received after this date will not be entertained.

It asserted that the verified farmers will be compensated as per their affected areas through Direct Benefit Transfer as and when funds are made available by the Home Department and after due verification at the SDO, DC and Directorate of Agriculture level.

It mentioned that the amount of compensation will be requisitioned from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, through the State Home Department. It added that the farmers will be compensated once the funds are approved and released by the Centre and that they may view the relevant videos attached to the portal for ease of application.

It also mentioned the documents required including Aadhaar card, bank passbook, land documents (patta, in case of surveyed land or DC issued land document in case of un-surveyed land/ khas land). Public can contact the concerned SDOs/DCs/District Agriculture Officer for further details or queries, it stated.
