The Manipur government has launched a 'Scheme for Chief Minister’s Award for Good Governance' to recognise and reward innovative and extraordinary work done by officials under the state government that promotes good governance.
Government servants will be rewarded for outstanding and exemplary performance and projects whose qualitative and quantitative outcomes are of a very high order and which have benefitted a large number of citizens and stakeholders, said a gazette notification issued by the department of Administrative Reforms.
Besides, successful completion of an extraordinarily challenging task or major systemic improvement resulting in significant benefits to the public or reduction in time and costs including outstanding implementation of central and state sponsor schemes shall be considered for the Award, it said.
Saying that the award would be given every year as either individual or team to the administrative secretaries, deputy commissioners, heads of department, heads of engineering departments (CEs or equivalent) and to any official or department, it announced that the cash award for the individual category will be Rs one lakh and Rs two lakh for group category.
It further stated that all serving officers under the state government including officers on deputation, officers under public sector undertakings, municipalities and autonomous bodies, autonomous district councils, either individually or as a team will be eligible for the Award. However for team nomination, all the members should have been actively involved in the initiative nominated, it added.
The notification also mentioned that the award shall be presented on such date and time decided by the chief minister from time to time and usually it will be presented on Statehood Day, Republic Day or Independence Day.
The power to amend, relax and interpret any of the provisions under the award scheme shall rest with the department of Administrative Reforms, it added.
