The Manipur government on Wednesday issued directives to the general public on paddy threshing and mud spillage on paved roads.
The latest orders issued by deputy commissioner Thoubal A Subhash Singh and deputy commissioner, Bishnupur, Lourembam Bikram on Wednesday instructed that no farmers shall utilise any part of paved road for the purpose of threshing paddy.
The statements also said that owners/drivers of farm vehicles must compulsorily remove mud from the tyre (s) of the farm vehicles before driving out to the main road.
The District Administrations issued the order, noting that some farmers/individuals are resorting to threshing of paddy on paved public roads with the start of the harvesting season, it asserted.
It also mentioned that a large number of farm vehicles used in paddy fields are dropping mud on paved roads, thereby causing damage to public property and endangering public life.
It maintained that failing to comply with the directives will invite appropriate action as per law.
