Manipur government has drastically failed: Maheshwar Thounaojam

Maheshwar said that the attacks by Kuki militants have not ended and remains unpredictable.

Manipur social activist Maheshwar Thounaojam on Wednesday said that Kuki militants killing SDPO officer Ch Anand in Moreh clearly shows that the Manipur government has drastically failed.

He was speaking at a public meeting cum condolence programme at Chingu Arong Ningthou Lai Haraopham in Charangpat Mamang Leikai.

The event was jointly organised by 14 clubs, Meira paibi co-ordinating Committee and Icham Khunou, Bengi, Thokchom and Nepra Company villages.

Maheshwar said that the attacks by Kuki militants have not ended and remains unpredictable. “We cannot stop these attacks and retaliation till we abolish the Kuki Narco Terrorists from the state, and we can rectify among ourselves when the attacks finally end,” he added.

He recalled that Home Minister Amit Shah and NIA have given the same statement that foreign countries are involved in the ongoing violence in the state, and the public also need to question if article 355 has been implemented in the state.

He alleged of the 10 Kuki MLAs being involved in the killing of Linthoingambi and Hemanjit as they have not released any single statement condemning the death of two innocent students. He also urged not to let the 10 Kuki MLAs enter Manipur.

The decision taken during the programme are to demand the state and central government to conclude the ongoing ethnic violence in the state; to let the displaced people return to their homes at the earliest; and to support in every protest to save the territorial integrity of Manipur by 14 clubs, Meira paibi co-ordinating Committee and Icham Khunou, Bengi, Thokchom and Nepra Company villages.

MU professor Chinglen Meisnam and AMKIL president Ngambi Leima attended the programme as presidium members.
