The Manipur government has allowed all private and government-aided schools to collect 50 per cent of monthly payable fees from parents and ordered to give 70 per cent of the monthly payable salary to teachers and staff.
An order issued by directorate of Education on Wednesday has stated that in pursuance of the approval of the government conveyed on June 16 of the education department, the quantum of school fees and salary of teachers and staff of the private and government-aided schools in the state is being prescribed.
It stated that all private and government-aided schools are allowed to take 50 per cent of monthly payable fees and teachers and staff should be given 70 per cent of the monthly payable salary. However, tuition fees of the students whom both the parents are or were lost owing to COVID-19 should not be charged.
In the interest of the teaching community during this difficult time of COVID-19 pandemic, if any parents wish to pay more than the prescribed 50 per cent of the monthly fees, the department has no objection to such eventuality and consequent increase in the salary of the teachers and staff, it added.
The newly prescribed fees and salary structure shall be effective from May 1, 2021 until further order or the prevailing COVID-19 protocols are lifted completely whichever is earlier, the order mentioned.
The order also stated that as advised by the ministry of Home Affairs, government of India, it is clarified that online or distance teaching mode should be continued to the extent possible. It is also ordered that all concerned should also ensure that the guidelines issued by the ministry of Home Affairs and department of Home, government of Manipur from time to time pertaining to COVID-19 pandemic are strictly complied with in letter and spirit.
