Manipur gears up for 1st International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies

A state-level observation function will be held at the directorate of Health Services under the theme 'Clean air for all.'

Ahead of the observation of First International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies on September 7 in Manipur, the State Environmental Health cell under the directorate of Health Services on Sunday conducted a district-level trainers training on air pollution and its impact on health via online classes with the help of 10 state trainers.

The state trainers, led by deputy director of public and state nodal officer of the Environment Health, Y Premchandra Singh, have been trained by national faculty under the national programme of Climate Change and Human Health.

A state-level observation function will be held at the directorate of Health Services under the theme 'Clean air for all.'

Tree plantation, theme talk and awareness campaign on air pollution will be the main features of the event.

Face masks distribution programmes will be also held at all the districts and it will be sponsored by the department of Environment and Climate Change.

Moreover a week-long campaign for awareness on air pollution and uses of face masks will also be held in all the health centres from September 8, the government said.
