Manipur: Flood sweeps away two persons, one found dead

Two persons in Senapati district, Manipur were swept away by landslide and flood triggered by heavy rains.

In separate incidents, two persons in Senapati district were swept away by landslide and flood triggered by heavy rains. The body of one has been found.  

According to sources, a 17-year-old youth went missing after he slipped and fell into Senapati River from Old Monday Market Iron Bridge under Senapati Police Station in Senapati district on Monday around 3 pm.

The boy has been identified as Hailungba Martin, son of Railung of Willing Khunou.

Local volunteers and family members swiftly carried out rescue operations after being informed. However, the body has not been located till the time of filing this report.  

Meanwhile, in another incident, a 25-year-old was found dead after he reportedly slipped into a mudslide caused by incessant rain and fell into Senapati river in between District Council Office and Vakho Village along NH-2 under Senapati Police Station in Senapati district on Tuesday around 1:30 am.

As per sources, the man has been identified as A Seisou, son of S Apao of Kabung Karong. He was a Dental Surgeon student in China.

Seisou slipped and fell into the swelling Senapati river after reportedly getting off from an Eco Van, in which he was traveling along with some individuals to assess the area.

Local volunteers and the Red Cross Society recovered his body on Tuesday around 8 am.
