In a rare incident, flood victims of Nagaram, Tangkhul Avenue, Dewlahland and Fairyland on Friday staged a sit-in demanding authorities to clean and flush out ‘Naga Nullah’ swiftly.
The protestors cautioned that Dingku Road would be blocked if works for the same were not initiated at the earliest.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the protest, Nagaram chairman Joyson Raikhan highlighted that the chief minister had failed to materialize the assurances he made during his election campaign in 2017.
“He assured us to remove the retaining wall and properly drain out the nullah. Even after his second term, we are yet to witness the action,” he said.
He pointed out that Nagaram, Tangkhul Avenue, Dewlahland and Fairyland were flood-prone areas which needed proper planning to eradicate the inundation issue.
As such, the residents demanded authorities to remove the retaining so as to make the flow obstacle free and prevent further issues.
