Manipur DGP holds meet with Kangpokpi CSO leaders

The director general of police of Manipur Rajiv Singh met with leaders of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of Kangpokpi district on Monday.

As per sources, no security measures were taken by Sekmai Police Station regarding the visit as it was kept confidential. Rajiv Singh departed Kangpokpi for Imphal at 3.50 pm following his meeting with the leaders, as per sources.

Notably, the visit is suspected to be linked to the recent abduction of two civilians by Kuki militants on September 27.

It may be mentioned that Oinam Thoithoi, 27, son of O Yaima of Leishangthem Awang Leikai, and Thokchom Thoithoiba, 27, son of Th Ibotombi of Khekman Wangmataba Maning Leikai, are currently being held hostage.

The abductors are reportedly seeking to exchange the two men for Mark Haokip, a separatist leader who is in NIA custody.
