Manipur: Dengue cases on the rise in Churachandpur

The Malaria department of Churachandpur district has so far done 63 fogging in different parts of the district while organising 58 awareness programmes

With the detection of new cases at Sielmat and Singngat areas of Churachandpur district, Manipur on Saturday, malaria cases are on the rise in the district amounting to 30 cases since January 2024.

In regards to this, District Malaria Officer Dr Liangoumuan Samte, along with his staff, took steps to check the increase of dengue cases by fogging at different vulnerable places in different localities like at D Phailian Veng, Compound Veng where the cause of the spread of dengue was investigated by a team of experts led by Lianbiakthang Sonput, whose team made case investigation, collected blood sample of the people of the area.

So far, the Malaria department of Churachandpur district has done 63 fogging in different parts of the district while organising 58 awareness programmes, having source Reduction center at 112 where they sanitize mosquito net of the people.

The DMO said that people should be aware of dengue that is usually fatal and has no direct medication. He also asked the people not to give space for mosquito breeding where water clotting was the main cause.

He also said that the disease has symptoms such as cold, body strain, etc. which is produced by Aedes aegypti mosquito (Yellow Fever Mosquito) for which the people have to consult doctor as most medicines have no cure for the disease.
