Respective district magistrates of Imphal West and Imphal East on Friday announced that restriction imposed on the movement of the general public outside their residences is lifted for Saturday from 5 am to 4 pm for all areas of Imphal West and East districts.
Latest orders issued by district magistrate, Imphal West Th Kirankumar stated that the relaxation shall not include any gathering/sit-in-protest/rally etc. without obtaining approval through competent authority.
However, movement of persons belonging to essential services such as health, electricity, CAF and PD, PHED, telecom and banking, petrol pumps, municipality, press and electronic media, functioning of courts and movement of flight passengers to airport and contractor/worker with valid Airport Entry Permit (AEP) card shall be exempted from the imposition of curfew after the expiry of the said period of the relaxation, it stated.
It stated that due to the developing of law and orders in the district, there is need to relax the restriction of movement to facilitate general public to purchase the essential items including medicines and food items.
It recalled that prohibitory orders were issued on August 31 vide Cril. Misc. Case No. 4 of 2024 under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 for restriction of the movement of any person outside their respective residences with emmidate effect from September 1 and until further orders.
District magistrate, Imphal East Khumanthem Diana Devi also issued similar orders relaxing the curfew in Imphal East.
The curfew has been relaxed in other districts of the valley also.
Similarly, district magistrate Thoubal A Subhas Singh issued order relaxing the curfew from 5 am to 4 pm. However, the assembly of five or more persons without the approval of competent authority, and carrying of sticks, stones, firearms without a valid license, weapons or objects of any description which can be used as offensive weapons shall remain prohibited, it stated.
