Manipur: Curfew hours for Bishnupur, Jiribam

The latest order issued by District Magistrate/DC, Bishnupur, Manipur, Lourembam Bikram on Monday said that the curfew has been relaxed with conditions.

Curfew has been lifted in all parts of Bishnupur district from 5 am till 5 pm for Tuesday while it has been lifted from 9 am to 3 pm within the jurisdiction of Jiribam Municipal Council.

The latest order issued by District Magistrate/DC, Bishnupur, Manipur, Lourembam Bikram on Monday said that the curfew has been relaxed with conditions.

As per the order, no person shall carry any arms of any kind during the period of relaxation for inciting violence such as sticks, stones, and firearms without a valid License, weapons, or objects of any description, which can be used as offensive weapons.

It stated that shops and other retail outlets are allowed to open during the period of relaxation and that all persons shall effectively abide by the relaxation schedule.

The order also mentioned that no extension is given and valid for any person and all attempts to delay shall be treated as violative of the curfew. The order also said that violation or attempt of violation of any kind shall be treated as per government instructions and as applicable per law.

It added that all persons belonging to essential services such as the Health, PHED, MSPDCL officials/staff of Education department, officials/staff Municipal officials and media persons will be exempted from further Imposition of curfew after the expiry of said period of relaxation.

As for Jiribam, Additional District Magistrate, Jiribam, Th Manoranjan Singh, said the curfew was relaxed to facilitate the general public in purchasing essential items including medicines and food items, etc.

The relaxation will, however, not apply to any gathering/large scale movement of persons/sit-in-protests/ rally, etc, which is unlawful in nature, it maintained.

The statement also said that Sr Superintendent of Police vide letter No 23 (LO)/SP JBM/2023), dated July 2, informed about law and order in Jiribam Municipal area and requested relaxation of the Prohibitory order within Jiribam Municipal area from 9 am till 3 pm.

It mentioned that the District Magistrate issued Prohibitory Orders under Sub Section 2 of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 restricting movement of persons outside their respective residences since June 6 vide Orders No 6/1/2/2022/DC(BM) dated June 6 in the whole area situated within the revenue jurisdiction of Jiribam District.
