The Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee women on Thursday demanded the removal of security advisor Kuldiep Singh and DGP, Manipur, within a week.

Speaking to the media, the convener of the joint coordinating committee, Laishram Memma, said that the state government cheated the public by stating that normalcy is returning in the state. Now, look at what is going on at Jiribam, she said.

Memma said that once the elections are over, they have begun killing the Meiteis. Last year when the whole Manipur was burning,  Jiribam was peaceful with no violence, she pointed out.

The women, visibly distraught, condemned the government’s silence on the escalating violence.

“Churachandpur and Moreh are in flames now,” lamented one of the speakers, highlighting the severity of the situation and added that Jiribam was untouched until the recent tragic killing of a Meitei person.

“If the state and Indian governments are unable to act, then they should hand over the situation to the public and we will solve within 10 days,” Memma said.

She stated that children are protecting their own land when security forces are not doing their job even as they are facing investigation by NIA and even arrests.

Memma questioned if there was any hidden agenda to kill all Meiteis.

She said that ten Kuki MLAs have already demanded a separate administration and they are not related with Manipur anymore and hence, they should disqualified. However, the remaining 50 MLAs, sitting comfortably at their quarters, should come out and join the Imas while going to Jiribam, said Memma.

Demanding immediate intervention, the women called for the MLAs and ministers to visit Jiribam along with the Joint Coordinating Committee to assess the situation firsthand and devise necessary measures.

Memma said that officers like security advisor and DGP are not aware about Manipur, that they do not know Manipuri langauge, are not in touch with Manipur’s reality and hence, they should transfer within a week. She warned of a strong agitation if they are not transferred with the time period.

“It is not the time to celebrate and enjoy Modi’s victory when your state is facing hardship”, Memma told the CM, asking him to join the coordinating committee while visiting Jiribam.

Memma even told the chief minister to walk in the middle with them if he was afraid of walking in front.
