Relaxation in curfew has been extended in violence-hit districts of Manipur for the fourth day on Tuesday (May 9), citing an improved situation with the deployment of more Central security and State forces in all vulnerable areas, according to official sources.
According to official releases issued on Monday, the respective districts administrations have ordered temporary relief to the people from the indefinite curfew in Imphal West, Thoubal, Jiribam, and Churachandpur on May 9.
Curfew has been relaxed in Imphal West from 5 am to 9 am, from 6 am to 10 am in Thoubal, 5 am to 1 pm in Jiribam, 6 am to 11 am in Churachandpur.

The indefinite curfew has been relaxed in order to felicitate the public to purchase essential items including medicines and food supplies, the release stated.
Curfew was relaxed for the third consecutive day on Monday for three hours between 7 am and 10 am in Churachandpur, and 10 other violence affected districts.
Subsequent relaxations shall be reviewed and notified based on assessment of the prevailing law and order situation, stated an order issued by the district administrations.
Total public curfew under section 144 CrPC, 1973, prohibiting movement of any person outside their respective residences, is imposed in several districts since the outbreak of communal violence and arson at several places of the state on May 3.
