CPI Manipur State Council mentioned that Jugeshwar, who was also former president of the All India Youth Federation, played an important role in the movement for repeal of AFSPA, inclusion of Manipuri language in the Eighth Schedule and against corruption. 

It further said that the party paid homage to the departed soul and said that it shared the grief of the bereaved family members.
