Three persons, including one identified as Manipur Police personnel, from Thoubal district of Manipur have been arrested and drugs worth Rs 5.65 crore in the international market seized from their possessions in Guwahati, sources said.
In an operation launched against a drug syndicate, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 807.18 grams of heroin contained in 65 soap cases on April 5 in Guwahati and three persons have been arrested in this connection, Joint Director, DRI, Guwahati zonal unit, said in a release.
The release mentioned that the value of the seized heroin is estimated to be around Rs 5.65 crore in the international market.
The arrested persons have been identified as one 24-year-old Md Laki Amir, 30-year-old Mohammad Raqibuddin both residents of Lilong, Thoubal district, Manipur and 34-year-old Mohammed Taslim Ahamad, resident of Thoubal Kiyam Litanpok, Moijing, Thoubal district, Manipur.
As per the identity card of Md Taslim Ahamad, he is working as a constable in the CID (Security) Office of the Manipur Police, the release mentioned.
The arrested persons have been booked under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act,1985 and presently under judicial custody, the release added.
