The protesters raised placards which read, ‘probe into forceful use of LIC and SBI’, ‘Don’t distort rules to benefit Adani’, etc.

Afterwards the rally arrived at the LIC office located at Kakching Ningthou leikai and the protesters further raised slogans such as ‘Save LIC and SBI’, etc.

On the sidelines of the event, Meghachandra told the media that the practice of crony capitalism by the BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been unfortunate. Extending support to one businessman in this manner has never occured in the history of this nation, he said.

The Congress party will fight such crony capitalism and the party is still working for the masses, he added.

The entire savings of the poor people at Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and the State Bank of India (SBI) are gone as investments to Adani’s market, he alleged. This has been proven in detail by Hindenburg research, he mentioned. Congress party’s appeal to deliberate the matter on the floor of the Parliament has fallen on deaf ears of the BJP government, he added.
