He asserted that however, Imphal was not included among the list of centres announced by the National Board of Examination in Medical Entrance Examination (NBEMS) for re-examination of NEET-PG slated to be held on August 11. The test city of Imphal was included in the list of centres identified for NEET-PG 2024 earlier, he mentioned.

He pointed out the present situation in the state, stating that free movement of students along the national highways is restricted as such the students will face difficulties to reach the centres outside the state.

Apart from this not all the students can afford to travel by flights to reach centres outside the state, he maintained. He went on to say that the state government has also created necessary infrastructure for conducting online examinations with funding from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

CM N Biren urged the Union Home Minister to intervene and give appropriate directions to the officials concerned for taking up necessary action for declaring Imphal as test city along with test centres as done in the past, to relieve difficulties being faced by the aspiring students of the state.

He also highlighted the prevailing unrest and law and order situation in the state following the conflict which erupted on May 3, 2023. He further claimed that the situation has improved significantly with the help and support of the Central government and expressed hope for an early resolution of all the issues facing the state.

It is also said that the chief minister also talked with the union minister telephonically regarding the matter.
