Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh called on Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at Raj Bhavan in Imphal Tuesday and wished a very happy and healthy life ahead on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami.
This is the first meeting of N Biren Singh and Acharya after assuming office as Governor of Manipur recently, stated a release. N Biren Singh briefed Acharya about the law and order, overall security situation, follow-up measures and also about the state’s administration, it stated.
He directed N Biren Singh for maintaining peace and also for ensuring safety and security of the people in the state, it added.
SSP Thoubal District, Rakesh Balwal, called on Manipur Governor, Lakshman Prasad Acharya at Raj Bhavan in Imphal on Tuesday and apprised him about the security situation in Thoubal district.
During the meeting, the SSP informed the governor about the various security measures taken up to ensure safety of the people and also to control any untoward incidents, stated a release from the Governor’s Secretariat.
Meanwhile, president of Kisan Morcha, Ukhrul district, Mayonpam Gachui, along with two others also called on the governor, wherein they briefed him about the grievances faced by the people of Ukhrul district regarding connectivity, infrastructure, education, and healthcare sectors, it stated.
They highlighted the deplorable condition of Imphal-Ukhrul road, stating that the same has mainly affected the social-economic conditions of the people in the district, it mentioned. They further requested the governor to visit the district and look into the situation, it added.
The governor also assured them that he will visit the district in mid-September and assess the situation at the earliest, it asserted.
On the other hand, officials of Manipur Amateur Boxing Association (AMBA) called on Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and invited him to be the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony of the 2nd Governors Cub Boxing Championship slated to be held on September 29, it stated.
During the meeting, the governor handed over a cheque of Rs 1,00,000 to the officials of the association and assured to extend all possible support from Raj Bhavan for the development of sports in the state, it maintained.
He also wished N Robash Meitei and L Bidya Devi who are among the Indian Boxing Contingents participating at the ongoing ASBC Asian School Boys and Girls Boxing Championship at AI Ain City Abu Dhabi, which will continue till September 10, it mentioned.
