Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh paid tributes to India's martyrs and recalled the strong determination of Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters as the nation observed the 80th anniversary of Quit India Movement on Tuesday.
"Humble tributes to the freedom fighters & martyrs of the #QuitIndiaMovement. This movement with the slogan ‘do or die’ paved the end of British Raj in India. The determination of Mahatma Gandhi and numerous freedom fighters will continue to inspire us," CM Biren tweeted.
Earlier, Manipur Governor La Ganesan also extended his greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion and stated that the ‘Quit India Movement' was launched by Mahatma Gandhi in Bombay in 1942, demanding the end of British Rule and to grant freedom to India. The movement was able to sow the seed of freedom struggle in each and every Indian, the governor said in his message to the people.
