Manipur CM Biren, Governor Ganesan, Speaker Y Khemchand extend greetings to people on Gaan-Ngai celebration

Let the celebration of Gaan-Ngai, the greatest post harvest festival of Zeliangrong community, bring hope, prosperity, wealth, peace, unity and love, the Speaker said in his message.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Friday extended greetings and well wishes to the Zeliangrong community and the people of Manipur on the occasion of Gaan Ngai, 2022.

In a message, CM Biren stated that Gaan Ngai festival, which is the biggest cultural and religious post-harvest festival of the Zeliangrong community, marks the beginning of the new year.

“During the festival, the community offers thanksgiving to ‘Tingkao Ragwang’ (Supreme God) for the good harvest and pray for wellbeing in the coming year,” he added.

Inviting the public to celebrate the festival with unity and love, Biren wished for happiness and prosperity in Manipur.

Extending greetings to the Zeliangrong community and the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Gaan Ngai, Governor La Ganesan stated that Gaan Ngai which is the ‘Festival of Winter Season' is for paying homage to the departed souls.

In a message, he stated that the festival has become a major cultural event for the different communities in the state. Recalling the value of the Gaan Ngai celebration of worshipping and thanksgiving to God, La Ganesan invited the public to celebrate the festivities with traditional gaiety, and spirits of friendship and brotherhood for a peaceful and prosperous Manipur.

Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand Singh also extended wishes for Chakaan Gaan-Ngai festival on Friday.

In his message, he extended his heartiest greetings and best wishes to all the people, particularly the Zeliangrong community on the occasion of Gaan-Ngai also known as Chakaan Gaan-Ngai. Let the celebration of Gaan-Ngai, the greatest post harvest festival of Zeliangrong community bring hope, prosperity, wealth, peace, unity and love, he stated.

“Taking this opportunity, I also appeal to all to maintain COVID-19 protocol while celebrating joyous moments of hope and unity of Gaan-Ngai festival. With this, I wish best wishes and warm greetings to all for Gaan-Ngai, 2022,” he added.
