Manipur CM Biren appeals to support Earth Hour campaign by switching off lights

Shape Our Future: Chief Minister N Biren appealed to all citizens to participate in the Earth Hour campaign, play their parts in conserving nature and to create a better world for future generations.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has appealed to the people of Manipur to support the Earth Hour Campaign of World Wide Fund for Nature India (WWF-India) on March 26, 2022 by switching off all non-essential lights of offices and residences between 8 pm to 9.30 pm.

N Biren said, “Earth Hour Movement was started in 2007 by World Wide Fund and is being observed on the last Saturday of March every year to raise awareness among people about the importance of nature and to add our voice for our fragile planet.”

On this day, people from all over the world switch off their lights for one hour to create awareness about climate change and save energy, he said. He added that the theme of Earth Hour 2022 is ‘Shape Our Future'. “It symbolises that we can shape our future by bringing attention to the critical issues our planet is facing today,” he said.

The chief minister further appealed to all citizens to participate in the campaign, play their parts in conserving nature and to create a better world for future generations.
