Manipur: Body found with bullet wounds

According to a police report, the body was found by passersby and informed to the police around 6.10 am Tuesday.

The body of a man suspected to have been shot dead by miscreants was found at Irom Meijrao Nambul Mapal Thingel under Wangoi Police Station in Imphal West district on Tuesday. 

According to a police report, the body was found by passersby and informed to the police around 6.10 am.

The deceased has been identified as Wahengbam Bikram, 36, son of (L) W Biren of Utlou Mamang Leikai under Nambol Police Station. 

It is suspected that the man was abducted as his eyes were taped shut by a cloth and also believed that his wrists were initially bound and later released.  

Two syringes along with AK-47 and three empty cases were also recovered by the police.

Following which, a team from the State Forensic Science Laboratory inspected the crime scene. Later, a team of Wangoi Police deposited the body to RIMS mortuary.

Residents of the area reported hearing gunfire on Monday around 11 pm. Meanwhile, the families of the deceased stated that he was a drug user and had not returned home since Monday.
