A body, which was found under Bir Tikendrajit Flyover bridge last Wednesday, has been cremated at the crematorium complex, Mantripukhri on Wednesday.
In a government order issued and signed by Th Kirankumar, district magistrate of Imphal West, it stated that the unknown body was found under the Flyover Bridge in front of Ima Keithel number 3 last Wednesday and was kept at RIMS morgue as unclaimed body for identification.
It also mentioned that an announcement and publicity was made by City Police Station in local dailies on December 23 informing the public or relatives to claim the body.
It further mentioned that no person has claimed the body in spite of the wide publicity till 3 pm by Monday. It has also been reported that the body is decomposed and putrefied creating nuisance and is hazardous to the health of officials of RIMS in particular and the public in general and needs to be disposed of.
Due to the reason, under section 204 with section 161 of the Manipur Municipalities Act, 1994 authorised the DC in any case of emergency to direct the Nagar Panchayat or the Municipal Council.
The body was disposed of by dumping at crematorium complex, Mantripukhri on Wednesday in presence of SDC, Lamshang/ Executive magistrate, Imphal West, Laitonjam Biken Singh as unclaimed body with video coverage under the supervision of investigating officer of the case.
