Vice president Manipur Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jotin Waikhom on Monday refuted the claims made by Congress MLA, Kh Joykisan that the Congress party is not responsible for the recent political crisis in the state.
Speaking in a press conference held at his residence located at Thangmeiband, Jotin said that MLA Kh Joykisan has frequently expressed that each political party should focus on the present COVID-19 crisis by keeping aside all political biases. However, the Secular Progressive Front (SPF) formed by the Congress party have been camping at the residence of one person who wishes to be a candidate in the following election at Yaiskul assembly constituency since around June 17, he stated.
When the SPF led by Okram Ibobi formed the state government in 2002, the state Congress was supported by other political parties including CPI, he said. However, MLAs from other political parties were taken in some years later and CPI, which took a major role in forming the SPF government, was kicked out from the then government, he alleged.
On the other hand, BJP has been giving priority on the principle of a coalition party, he pointed out. He said BJP never encourages other political parties to get merged with it as the party gives priority to coalition political parties. Joykisan should not try to mislead the people of Thangmeiband, he added.
After failing to break the BJP-led coalition government apart, the Congress should not throw the blame on other political parties concerning the political crisis, he stated. Before alleging some party on various issues, the Congress party should fix its own internal issues, he added.
