The Uripok Kendra Welfare Association (UKWA) and Uripok Kendra COVID-19 Relief Committee felicitated the newly appointed vice-president of Manipur BJP, Laishram Meenabanta on Sunday at Rasheshwori Gopinath Mandop located at Uripok Sorobon Thengel, Imphal West.
The felicitation programme was started with candle lighting to condole the death of 1,796 people who succumbed to COVID-19.
Speaking on the occasion, Meenabanta said that various initiatives have been taken by Uripok Kendra Welfare Association and Uripok Kendra COVID-19 Relief Committee to fight against COVID-19. The two bodies have extended much necessary assistance including bringing stranded people to the state during the first wave of the pandemic.
He also appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N Biren for providing free ration during the pandemic to the NFSA beneficiaries and for announcing that the distribution will be continued for the next six months.
He appealed to the state government to bring more developments for the welfare of the people who are suffering due to the pandemic.
