Countering the various allegations levelled against the Modi-led government by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) over the conviction of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Manipur BJP on Sunday alleged that it is the Congress which confines to corruption from top to bottom.

The deplorable NH roads, bridges and delay in railway works in the state during the Congress regime shows the Congress negligence on connectivity and development, said general secretary of BJP, Manipur P Premananda while speaking to the media at Thambal Shanglen in Imphal.

Highlighting the development aspects witnessed in the state since the inception of the double engine government, he said, “It is indeed a shame that the then Congress government, during its long tenure, never considered any development aspects”.

Reacting to the Congress claim on the Bharat Jodo Yatra that “it was supported by the whole public and BJP is scared of its outcome,” he pointed out that the Congress even lost the Assembly election in all the states conducted recently.

“The Congress claimed that the yatra was too much. It was just a yatra of regret,” he added.

Regarding the historic move of lifting ‘disturbed area’ status from the jurisdiction of four more police stations in Manipur by the Central government, the general secretary extended gratitude to the double engine government.

Recalling the days when the then government used to remain a silent spectator in the collective demand of repealing of AFSPA by all CSOs and general public of Manipur, he said the BJP government today did the job spontaneously, though the public did not demand for it.

He said, “For this kind act, I particularly thanked PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the council of ministers, BJP chief JP Nadda, CM N Biren and BJP Manipur president A Sarda for their concern towards the people of Manipur by being citizen centric”.

“The people of Manipur consider this generous act a Cheiraoba (Manipur New Year) gift,” said the general secretary.
