The Manipur Legislative Assembly on Monday passed a total sum of Rs 3269,96,04,000 as grants for six different departments for the year 2024-2025.
Leader of the House, N Biren Singh moved the six different demands on the assembly floor including Transport with a sum of Rs 24,67,93,000; Public works department with a sum of Rs 1974,72,48,000; Information and Publicity with a sum of Rs 19,50,21,000; Cooperation with at sum of Rs 44,74,97,000; Printing with a sum of Rs. 7,05,50,000; Fisheries with a sum of Rs 89,95,38,000 and Social Welfare department with a sum of Rs 110929,57,000 during the agenda of “discussion and voting on demands for grants”.
Among the six demands, four Opposition MLAs other than CLP leader Okram Ibobi raised policy cuts on different accounts on Transport, Public works department, Information and publicity and social welfare department.
Respective concerns, after clarifying the policy cuts of the six different demands, were unanimously passed.
Moreover, four government bills were moved on the assembly floor for consideration by the leader of the House, N Biren Singh, and Education minister, Th Basanta Kumar Singh.
Biren Singh, who is also the finance minister, moved “The Manipur Contingency Fund Bill, 2024 (Bill No.9 of 2024; and “The Manipur Schedule Castes and Other Backward Classes (Regulation of Issuance and Verification of Caste Certificates) Bill, 2024 (Bill No. 15 of 2024).”
He moved the two government bills on the assembly floor for consideration of passing the bills.
Education minister, Th Basanta Kumar Singh, moved two other government bills including “The Dhanamanjuri University (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024 (Bill no. 13 of 2024) and “The Manipur Private School (registration and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (Bill no. 14 of 2024).”
Opposition MLA, Surjakumar Okram placed his observation on the “The Dhanamanjuri University (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024 (Bill no. 13 of 2024)” while another MLA from the opposition bench, Th Lokeshwar, also placed his observation on the and “The Manipur Private School (registration and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2024 (Bill no. 14 of 2024).”
