Manipur Legislative Assembly on Tuesday passed a total sum of Rs 37,61,63,29,000 as grants for seven different departments.
The demands were moved on the assembly floor by leader of the House N Biren Singh who is also the Finance minister.
Among the seven different demands moved on the assembly floor, Public Health Engineering has a sum of Rs 22,23,44,81,000; Administration of Justice as a sum of Rs 1,43,57,35,000; Rehabilitation has a sum of Rs 7,38,66,000; Minor Irrigation has a sum of Rs 302,76,41,000; Fisheries has a sum of Rs 62,55,00,000; arts and culture has a sum of Rs 53,71,49,000; and social welfare has a sum of Rs 968,19,57,000.
Among the seven different demands, opposition MLAs Surjakumar Okram, K Meghachandra, Th Lokeshwar raised motions for disapproval of policy cut on Demand No 22 (Public Health Engineering), Demand No 36 (Minor irrigation), Demand No 37 (Fisheries), Demand No 41 (Arts and Culture) and Demand No 44 (Social welfare).
After deliberation on the policy cut motion raised by the opposition MLAs, the minister concerned clarified on the disapproval of policy cut. Later, the motion for disapproval of policy cuts were withdrawn and passed on the assembly floor unanimously.
